Reception theory

 1) What is the preferred reading of a media text? This is the message or idelogy/belief the producers want the audience to believe.

2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text? This is when the consumer takes away an opposite message or belief different to what the producers want.

Re-watch the trailer for the film Harry Brown:

3) How does the Harry Brown trailer position the audience to respond to the teenage characters in the film?

That they are violent,up to no good,do criminal activities and they they need sorting out.

4) Why might young people reject this reading and construct an oppositional reading of the trailer?
Because They might reject this reading and construct an oppositional reading because some people in this generation don't like doing stuff that other people do and they don't want to get involved with that type of stuff.

5) Write a 150+ word analysis of the McDonald's advert using preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings.
Preferred:The audience believes that the burger may be tasty and want to try something new and not get a repeat. This is shown by in the description bellow the burger it sates " its as good as its big." which shows that it is good.Another reason why is being it also says"the crispy lettuce" this proves that it is healthy because it provides lettuce.
Negotiated:Some people may say that the burger is tasty but some people say that it is not healthy and that it is not good for you.
Oppositional: Some people would say that the burger will be really unhealthy for you and it will effect your health in a negative way.It will effect you in the long run of your life. You would gain diabetes by eating the burger if you eat it all the time because of the amount of sugar they put in the burgers. Also because of the ingredients they are made out of.
