Camera work
1) Pick three camera shots from the Doctor Who scene and explain what type of shot it is and what meanings or effect they have on the audience.
- The opening Medium close up shows that the character is in a meeting.This will set the tone/setting for the next scene.
- The close up shot of the electric energy supply that was used was very significant because it was emphasizing the power that was created for what they did.It also pulls the audience in and lets them know that something is going to happen.
- The over-the-shoulder shot is used when the character tries to call the doctor by using many computers to acomplish it.It draws attention to the effort he is putting in to make it work.It suggests that this is a difficult task to do.
2) Pick one camera angle that is used in the scene and explain the effect it has on the audience.
One camera angle that was used in this scene is the low angle. The reason why this camera angle was used is to make the characters look powerful.At 0.37 is zooming in to make her look serious and scary.She looks powerful at the medium close up shot zooms into her face suggesting that she wants to be heard and is the main character in that scene.
3) Pick one aspect of mise-en-scene from the scene and explain what connotations are being communicated to the audience.
The lab setting helps us understand what they are trying to do.In a lab you do experiments so it suggets that they are doing an experiment.The costumes help with the understanding of the scene.
