There is some writing with a little boy who looks upset. In the background there is a wall made of mud and sand.
Connotation
The advert builds a emotional experience for the people who have seen this advert "Dig toilets Not graves".This connotation of the wall suggests that the condition are horrible, unhygenic and provide a upsetting life for the people living there and the audience.the colours are dull and the background creates connotations of depression.this suggests that to the people watching that he needs all the help he can get.
Analysis
The advert helps the audience understand how the boy feels about his situation as the dull and muted colours conveys that he is not happy with his life style and would appreciate help. The text on the side shows how desperate and in need he is for help. This adds to the negative emotions that come with the reality of the situation and the advert.
My own advert of choice:
Denotation
There is text in black, white and red behind is an all black screen with a man sitting on the floor with his knees up to his head.
Connotation
the advert builds on the damage and side affect of taking or being addicted to drugs,"Say no to addiction".The connotation of the position the man is in suggests that drugs are harmful ,dangerous and will provide a negative experience for the audience and will hopefully turn people off doing drugs. The colours are dull and the black background of depression- this shows the effects an struggles you will face taking drugs.
Analysis
The advert helps the audience understand the negative presence that comes with taking drugs. In addition, the words on the advert help the audience to understand and feel how it would feel with an addiction whilst also including facts and advice. This helps people feel supported whilst also feeling like they are not being judged. This adds to the atmsophere and feel of the advert.
